spend your summer, whether you want a relaxing holiday or an extreme
sports vacation.
Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz,
California, is a wonderful place for a summer vacation. Its boardwalk
and beautiful beaches make it a must-see. It is one of America's
surfing capitals, even featuring a surfing museum. The beach is among
the most beautiful beaches in the
world, and is a great place to stop with your kids. Many of the towns
are located within walking distance,
and a train tours the Redwood Forest. If you are more in the mood for

Cozumel
Cozumel Island, Mexico, is the largest island in
Mexico and is the second best diving capital of the world. It is about
490 square km. It is inexpensive to stay at, and is easy to get to. All
natives speak English, so there is no language barrier. Also, you can
drink the water (it is much cleaner than the water in Mexico). Most of
the restaurants and shops accept credit cards and traveler's cheque. It
is a very relaxing place in which to spend your vacation.
San Luis Obispo
San Luis Obispo,
located in Central California, is a college town with many attractions.
It has wine country (vineyards
and wineries), perfect weather, and good restaurants. Its quaint
small-town setting provides a good place to wind down after a busy
year. Its slow life has earned it the name "S.L.O. town." It's a good
launching point for those who want to take a tour of Hearst Castle.
William Randalph Hearst started the newspapers on the West Coast. He
was a very wealthy man, a fact clearly reflected in his castle.
Disneyland
Disneyland, in Anaheim, California, is a
fantastic location to take your kids. There are rides for all ages,
from riding on Dumbo to going on roller coasters. Also, you can meet
Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. Parades are
common around holidays. On Christmas, you can watch a parade featuring
a Santa Claus and fireworks. Although some hotels might be a little
more price than an average overnight stay, the price is well worth it.

Yosemite
Yosemite National Park is in
the central Sierra Nevada Range of California. It features many domes,
slopes, sequoia groves, and Yosemite Valley
(possibly the best example of a glacier-carved canyon in the world). It
once lay beneath the sea, but formed when layers of sediment pushed it
above ground. Native Americans lived in Yosemite until, in 1864,
President Abraham Lincoln signed a bill which protected the Valley and
Sequoia Grove. It is now available for tours and is flocked by visitors
who daily view its natural wonders.
